ACM Overview

The Appropriate Care Measure (ACM) is a composite measure that captures whether or not a patient received all the care he or she was eligible to receive based on 10 quality measures for acute myocardial infarction, heart failure and pneumonia.  A patient must receive all measures for which he or she is eligible to be counted as receiving appropriate care.

The ACM reinforces the CMS commitment to the right care for every patient, every time. This measure encourages transformational organization-wide improvement at each hospital by demonstrating a commitment to quality improvement through administrative support and communication.

The 10 measures calculated into the ACM are as follows:

Acute Myocardial Infarction

Heart Failure

Pneumonia
