Appeals


As an individual with Medicare coverage, you have guaranteed rights and protections. Please become familiar with the following facts:

  • If you are receiving care in a skilled facility, homecare agency, hospice or a comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facility and the facility decides skilled care is no longer needed, you will receive an advance notice called a Notice of Medicare Non-Coverage at least two days before the coverage will end.
  • If you don’t think your skilled care should end, the notice explains how you can request an appeal.  Your request for an expedited, or fast-track appeal, should be made no later than noon of the day before the effective date on the notice.
  • To request an appeal, call a CIMRO of Nebraska Beneficiary Protection Specialist at 1-800-458-4262. We will request your medical records, conduct a review and provide you with our determination within 48-72 hours.
  • If you are unhappy with CIMRO of Nebraska’s determination, you can request a reconsideration through a qualified independent contractor.
