Dyspnea Overview

The publicly reported outcome measure Improving in Dyspnea, OASIS item M0490,  identifies when the patient is dyspneic or noticeably short of breath. Breathing sufficiently to perform normal activities of daily living improves the quality of a patient’s life. Intervention strategies may include teaching energy conservation measures, breathing techniques and assessing for the need of special adaptive equipment. Referral to other disciplines, such as occupational therapy may be helpful.
