All Nebraska hospitals are encouraged to abstract and submit data to the QIO clinical warehouse, the national data repository, on the four CMS national inpatient topics (Acute Myocardial Infarction, Heart Failure, Pneumonia and Surgical Infection Prevention).  Data is submitted via the QualityNet web site using the CMS Abstraction Reporting Tool (CART) or a third party vendor. 

All Prospective Payment System (PPS) inpatient hospitals must continuously submit valid data on the 21 required quality measures and HCAHPS data in order to receive their annual payment update from Medicare. Data submitted to the warehouse will be validated by the CMS Clinical Data Abstraction Center (CDAC).
