The Outcome and ASsessment Information Set (OASIS) is the universal clinical assessment tool for adult nonmaternity patients receiving skilled care at home from Medicare-certified homecare agencies in the United States. Accurate and concise OASIS documentation is critical to the continued success of Medicare-certified homecare agencies.
OASIS web-based training is a comprehensive and interactive training tool developed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide homecare agency clinicians with detailed instructions on each OASIS item.
Outcome Based Quality Improvement (OBQI) is a performance improvement system that uses OASIS-derived outcome reports to provide the foundation for quality improvement efforts. Activities in the OBQI process include selecting target outcomes for improvement, conducting the process-of-care investigation, developing a plan of action (POA) and implementing and monitoring the plan of action.
The OBQI process is a systematic approach homecare agencies can implement and follow to continuously improve the quality of care they provide. A web-based training tool is available to assist agencies in implementing the OBQI process.
